John Alario is a prominent figure in Louisiana politics. He was born on May 8, 1947 in New Orleans and graduated from East Jefferson High School in Metairie, Louisiana. He later attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
In 1972, Alario was first elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives, where he served until 2008. During his time in the House, he held numerous leadership positions, including Speaker pro tempore and Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
In 2008, Alario was elected to the Louisiana Senate, where he served until his retirement in 2020. During his tenure in the Senate, he also held several leadership positions, including President and President pro tempore.
